Unveiled on April 25, 2025, the murals reflect the theme “The Future of Aviation.” Carr’s mural, “It’s All Up From Here,” features colorful aviation symbols designed to be welcoming for travelers. He hopes it brings joy to airport visitors: “Travel can be stressful sometimes,” he said. “I want my mural to brighten the space.”

Randall’s mural, titled “The Aviators of Tomorrow,” depicts a young boy wearing a pilot’s cap, gazing out of a colorful plane window. The creation process took her about 30 hours, during which she engaged with travelers. Some children mirrored the boy’s expression, creating fun, shared moments: “It was amazing to see it all come together piece by piece,” she shared.

Stephen Dougherty, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, emphasized the importance of incorporating student art into the airport, stating it transforms the terminal into a space of creativity and connection. This sentiment is echoed in Ueno’s assessment of how such projects teach students valuable skills in collaboration and problem solving.

Reflecting on the educational aspect, Dean Ian Marshall noted that this partnership showcases the talent within Stockton’s Visual Arts program and draws attention to the university’s growth. “We are attracting talented students from across our region who specialize in various art forms,” he said. “This exposure to the public helps highlight their skills and creativity.”

As public art evolves, Carr and Randall’s contributions stand as examples of how art can enrich everyday spaces. Carr aims to continue bringing artistic visions to life, reinforcing the idea that art has a vital role outside traditional settings.

Stockton University is recognized as one of the top public universities, offering over 160 academic programs to its 9,000 students across its beautiful campuses.
