Strategic Communications Africa (Stratcomm Africa) recently earned the title of Best in Environmental & Climate Change Communications at the 2023/2024 Excellence Awards hosted by the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR Ghana).
This award was announced during IPR Ghana’s National Summit and Annual General Meeting in Takoradi from November 13th to 15th, 2025, under the theme “Reimagining Public Relations in a Contemporary World.” This honor highlights Stratcomm Africa’s pivotal role in promoting sustainable development and engaging communities on climate issues.
Esther A. N. Cobbah, the founder and CEO of Stratcomm Africa, expressed her appreciation, stating, “We dedicate this award to everyone who believes in the power of green action. This recognition emphasizes the urgent need for effective communication around sustainability to inspire collective responsibility in saving our planet.”
Stratcomm Africa’s success was largely attributed to its Ghana Garden & Flower Movement (GGFM) and the Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS). These initiatives encourage community involvement in environmental conservation through education and practical solutions. They aim to instill a sense of environmental awareness among youth and entrepreneurs.
The 2024 GGFS focused on “GREENOVATION: Green the Nation, Feed the Nation, Grow the Nation,” showcasing how environmental innovation can drive food security and empower young people. Over eight days at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, the event attracted more than 30,000 attendees and 100 exhibitors, a remarkable turnout. It utilized storytelling, theater, and hands-on workshops to inspire action on climate change.
The IPR Ghana Excellence Awards aim to highlight top communicators and organizations. The award for Environmental & Climate Change Communications celebrates campaigns that effectively use public relations strategies to engage stakeholders and promote positive environmental practices.
This recognition follows four global awards Stratcomm Africa won in October from the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) at the IPRA Golden World Awards. The agency continues to champion environmental awareness through innovative communication.
Expert insights emphasize the growing importance of effective communication in addressing climate change. According to a recent study by the Global Climate Communication Initiative, 70% of Americans believe that clear messaging can significantly impact their understanding of environmental issues. This shows that organizations like Stratcomm Africa play a crucial part in shaping public perception and encouraging action.
With increasing global attention on climate change, the role of effective public relations has never been more critical. As we look to the future, the blend of creativity and strategic communication will be key in fostering sustainable practices worldwide.
