Strengthening Naval Power: INS Taragiri and INS Aridaman Join the Indian Navy

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently visited Visakhapatnam to inspect the new stealth frigate, INS Taragiri. This ship enhances the Indian Navy’s capabilities, acting as a key player in India’s maritime strategy. During the commissioning, Singh emphasized the Navy’s vital role in ensuring security and responding to crises, both in India and beyond.

The INS Taragiri is more than just a ship; it’s a symbol of India’s increasing maritime strength. With a displacement of about 6,670 tonnes, this advanced warship was built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. It features modern design elements that improve stealth and combat capabilities. Over 75% of its components are made in India, showcasing the progress of domestic shipbuilding and technology.

The Defence Minister highlighted the significance of having a strong Navy, especially since about 95% of India’s trade relies on maritime routes. He pointed out that with a coastline of over 11,000 kilometers, maritime security is crucial for India’s overall development.

In a related development, Singh also commissioned the indigenous nuclear submarine, INS Aridaman. This submarine is part of India’s Arihant class and further strengthens the Navy’s strategic capabilities. Such advancements reflect India’s commitment to establishing a powerful and self-reliant maritime force.

Recent surveys show that a majority of Indians support investment in naval capabilities, viewing them as essential for national security. Social media reactions have praised these initiatives, with many users expressing pride in India’s growing defense capabilities.

In a rapidly changing global landscape, India’s naval power is not only crucial for defense but also for humanitarian missions and international diplomacy. As the Navy continues to develop, it plays a critical role in securing trade routes and ensuring regional stability.
