Coaker emphasized the importance of naval cooperation. He acknowledged India’s role in maintaining security in the Indian Ocean, stating, “India is crucial to that, and we remain committed to working with our friends to deliver that.”

A recent report from the International Institute for Strategic Studies reinforces this sentiment, suggesting that strengthened military ties between India and the UK could enhance overall regional security. In fact, a survey showed that 63% of Indian respondents support deeper military collaboration with Western nations amidst growing concerns over maritime security.

Both countries reaffirmed their dedication to a robust defense relationship. This includes collaboration on global defense supply chains and efforts to ensure freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific region. Coaker pointed out that recent agreements, including a missile deal announced during discussions between Prime Ministers Modi and Starmer, are crucial for regional stability.

Future plans involve expanding training opportunities for Indian naval officers in the UK and vice versa. This exchange aims to deepen ties, allowing both nations to learn from each other’s experiences.
