Tel Aviv, Nov 6 (IANS) – An Indian delegation, led by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, recently visited Israel to explore new defence partnerships. The aim? To deepen ties between India and Israel and support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which promotes self-reliance in defense production.
During the visit, Singh met with leaders from key Israeli defense firms, including Elbit Systems, Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, and Israel Aerospace Industries. The focus was on co-production and co-development of defense technologies, strengthening existing collaborations.
Singh also had discussions with Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz. They shared insights from a recent Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting that sought to enhance their strong defense cooperation. This week, the two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 17th JWG meeting in Tel Aviv. This agreement lays a foundation for various aspects of collaboration, including strategic dialogue, joint training, and advancements in areas like Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.
Recent trends show that both countries are increasingly focused on addressing contemporary security challenges. A 2023 report indicated that defense cooperation between India and Israel has led to double-digit growth in joint projects over the past few years. This highlights the mutual benefits of shared expertise and technology.
The latest MoU illustrates the deepening strategic partnership between India and Israel, particularly in defense and security. Both nations are committed to counterterrorism and addressing shared security concerns. With a foundation built on trust and aligned interests, this agreement is poised to bolster their relationship in a changing global landscape.
This partnership not only strengthens military capabilities but also fosters innovation in defense technologies, ensuring both countries are better prepared for future challenges.
