U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s Message at the Munich Security Conference

Rubio acknowledged that the U.S. under Trump would push for “seriousness and reciprocity” from its allies. He affirmed, “We are not looking to end the trans-Atlantic era,” stressing that the U.S. will always consider Europe its home.
He concluded by emphasizing the U.S.’s intention to engage in a productive partnership, saying, “We have fought against each other, then reconciled… and we want to do it together with you, our cherished allies.”
In a contrasting view, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi later addressed the conference, stating that the issues with the current international system stem from some countries’ actions. He stressed the importance of cooperation and trust, highlighting a potential path forward for global collaboration.
