Jan and Michelle Hagemeier from Vero Beach love tackling real estate projects together. With Michelle as an interior decorator running MHH Design and Jan offering his expertise as a retired financial executive, they make quite the team.
Their latest adventure was buying a condo in Palm Beach. Located at 2773 S. Ocean Blvd, this spot offers lovely views of the Intracoastal Waterway. After completing renovations on Unit No. 2090 at the Carlyle House, they are now ready for their next challenge.
The Hagemeiers purchased their two-bedroom, two-bath condo for $1.295 million. It’s a spacious 1,457 square feet, complete with a designated parking spot. The layout is practical, featuring a cozy foyer, dining and living areas, a main suite, and a guest suite, plus a laundry room.
Why did they choose this particular condo? Michelle explains there were many reasons. The building was being updated, the location is perfect, and many of their friends have moved to that area. The condo had its share of wear and tear, last renovated in 1973, but its potential was clear. The Hagemeiers took it down to the studs, but the layout was just right.
They replaced old systems, added a fresh kitchen and new bathrooms, and customized the closets. The floors were transformed with beautiful Dominican shell stone, and all windows and doors now boast impact-resistant glass, enhancing safety and aesthetic appeal.
The kitchen features custom maple cabinets, stunning Porcelanosa counters, and high-end appliances, including a top-of-the-line steam convection oven. “I had a separate steam oven in London and loved it,” Michelle shared.
Not just the kitchen, but the bathrooms were also updated with matching cabinetry and counters. Each major room offers scenic views of the Intracoastal. A mirrored wall reflects even more light and beauty from the terrace, creating a bright and airy feel.
Michelle wanted the decor to resonate with the essence of Palm Beach but with a unique twist. “I chose colors like green, lilac, and peach to give it a fresh, natural vibe,” she said.
Carlyle House has 86 units with great amenities like a pool overlooking a lake, a fitness center, and a community room, providing a resort-like atmosphere. Residents can also enjoy the recent landscaping updates that bring beauty to the common areas.
In recent times, the condo market has seen a boom. According to a 2023 report from the National Association of Realtors, prices for properties in desirable areas like Palm Beach have risen by roughly 10% year-over-year. This trend shows just how valuable and sought-after locations are, especially for renovated homes.
As Michelle puts it, living in Carlyle House feels like a vacation, with a pleasant breeze on the balcony and friendly staff members always on hand.
