SAN DIEGO – Jase Summy made a splash at the Pauma Valley Invitational, tying for third place and helping Oklahoma finish eighth overall. The Sooners struggled in both the first and last rounds, hitting 4-over-par 288 each time. Their standout moment came in the second round, where they managed a 1-under 283, but it wasn’t enough to break into the top five for the tournament.

LSU, ranked seventh, proved to be the star of the event, finishing at a remarkable 27-under par, a full ten strokes ahead of second-place Texas. Only five teams managed to finish under par at the par-71 Pauma Valley Country Club.
Summy, who is from Keller, Texas, was Oklahoma’s shining star, ending the tournament at 3 under par. He was tied for the lead heading into the final hole but stumbled with a double-bogey, which knocked him down to third. He did impressively tally 12 birdies, the seventh-most in the entire field, marking his third top-10 finish this season and the eighth of his college career.
Drew Goodman also had a solid showing, finishing at even par and tying for 23rd place. After a challenging first round, where he shot a 76, he rallied back with a strong 1-under final round, completing the last 36 holes at 5 under.
Ryder Cowan landed in 50th place at 7-over, though he enjoyed a bright spot with a 1-under 70 in his first round. Newcomers Stephen Campbell Jr. and freshman Cam Cheek faced tough rounds, finishing at 76th and 78th, respectively.
Christian Maas from Texas, ranked 13th nationally, took home the individual title, finishing at 9 under par.
Looking ahead, the Sooners will compete next at the Valspar Collegiate at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Florida, this coming Monday and Tuesday.
