THE AD: We’re diving back into the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World universe, and this time, Scarlett Johansson takes the lead. She stars alongside Jonathan Bailey, known from Wicked and Bridgerton. Scarlett plays a secret agent who partners with Jonathan’s paleontologist character for a thrilling mission on the island where the original dino research happened. But be warned—the evidence isn’t just dormant; it’s alive and definitely hungry.
MY HOT TAKE: Honestly, I’m not thrilled about this upcoming film. The Jurassic series has been limping along for a while, yet Universal keeps pouring money into it. It’s like a cash machine that won’t stop churning. This new trailer for Rebirth feels a bit underwhelming. The plot introduces a new dinosaur-filled island, which feels like a desperate attempt to bring fresh life to the series, but it seems more like a recycled concept than anything innovative.
Plus, there’s this mention of a mutant dinosaur that seems pulled straight from the later Alien films. We all remember how those turned out. Sure, some of them had their moments, but overall, they missed the mark.
I think it’s time for this franchise to hit the brakes. However, if Rebirth does manage to be a box-office success, we might finally see John Sayles’ wild script for Jurassic Park 4 come to life. It’s a screenplay that promises to be one of the craziest ideas never made into a movie. The ball’s in Universal’s court now.
