Support Eric Dane’s Daughters: GoFundMe Campaign Under Review and Funding Temporarily Suspended

A fundraiser was started to assist Eric Dane’s family after his passing. The beloved actor, known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, died at the age of 53 after bravely battling ALS. He shared his diagnosis with fans in April 2025.

Shortly after his death, a group of friends set up a GoFundMe to help support his teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, whom he shared with Rebecca Gayheart. The original fundraising goal was $250,000 but was soon raised to $500,000. Within hours, donations poured in, reaching over half of the initial target.

However, GoFundMe has placed the fundraiser under review, freezing the funds temporarily. The company stated, “Our Trust and Safety team is still looking into this GoFundMe.” They assured that all contributions are safe during this review.

Mike McGuiness, a long-time friend of Dane, announced the fundraiser on Instagram. He highlighted the challenges Dane faced due to COVID and ALS, saying he couldn’t provide the support he wished for his family. The fundraiser gained momentum quickly, even receiving a significant $27,000 donation from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

“When I heard about Eric’s passing, I was heartbroken. He was not only a talented actor but also a wonderful friend. His family is in my thoughts and prayers,” Levinson expressed in a statement.

Dane was also known for his role in Euphoria, which introduced him to a younger audience. He was passionate about his work, even after his diagnosis, stating he felt grateful to continue acting and requested privacy for his family during this tough time.

While the future of the GoFundMe is uncertain, the outpouring of support from friends, fans, and the community serves as a reminder of the deep connections Dane forged throughout his life and career.
