Support the Greater Cleveland Food Bank: Donate at This Year’s Greek Fest!

CLEVELAND — The Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Fest is stepping up to combat food insecurity. They’re donating part of their proceeds to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, especially as recent federal cuts threaten food supplies.

Currently, one in seven people in the food bank’s service area struggles to find enough to eat. Rising food prices in Ohio have pushed many families to seek help. The food bank has reported record numbers of clients, reflecting just how serious the situation is.

Greek Fest Co-Chair Clay White shared, “Our festival is about sharing food and culture with the community.” This initiative aligns with their mission of giving back.

Beyond the donations, festival organizers will match any contributions made to the food bank during the event, up to $10,000. “We want to ensure that people have meals,” White said. The food bank has the expertise to maximize the impact of these funds, ensuring they reach those in need.

Karen Pozna, Director of Communications at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, emphasized the importance of community support. “The Food Bank will have a booth at the event, offering information on how people can help, whether through volunteering or donating,” she noted. The demand for food assistance remains critical for many in Northeast Ohio.

The Greek Festival runs from July 24-27 and features delicious food, cooking demonstrations, and lively music, all aimed at bringing the community together while supporting an essential cause.

Food insecurity is a pressing issue. A recent survey found that over 70% of people believe that local food banks play a vital role in their communities. Events like the Greek Fest not only celebrate culture but also highlight the need for compassion and action. As food prices rise, community efforts become even more critical.
