Susquehanna University recently welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees, all of whom are alumni. They will serve four-year terms starting May 10. Additionally, a student representative, Frank Fiannaca ’28, joins the board for two years.
University President Jonathan Green emphasized the board’s vital role in enhancing educational excellence. “Our Board of Trustees is integral to our mission of preparing students for successful lives,” he said.
Meet the New Board Members
The Rev. Karen Ward ’11 is a pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in McAlisterville. She earned her degree in religious studies from Susquehanna and later attended Luther Seminary. Ward has also engaged in service missions across several countries, including Costa Rica and Liberia.
Susan Mays ’04 Yu serves as a partner at AIM13, a private investment management firm in New York. With a background at Goldman Sachs, she brings extensive financial expertise to the board. Mays has a degree in business administration from Susquehanna and is committed to charitable initiatives, including her role on the advisory board for Best Buddies International.
Kyle Robertson ’11 is a senior global impact manager at the Hain Celestial Group, where he focuses on sustainability and climate-related risks. He holds degrees from Susquehanna in business and music, along with a Master’s in global strategy and sustainability from the University of Edinburgh.
The Student Voice
Fiannaca adds a fresh perspective as a student representative. He is majoring in management with a minor in professional sales. Not only is he a member of the men’s lacrosse team, but he is also involved in various campus organizations promoting student-athlete mental health and leadership.
His fellow representative, Kiara De Silva ’27, a double major in biochemistry and finance, is recognized for her leadership skills. She recently received the Baylor Leadership Award, showcasing the university’s commitment to fostering strong leaders.
By bringing together experienced professionals and the student voice, Susquehanna University aims to have a well-rounded board that can guide its mission effectively.
