Swift Action: Indian Railways Unveils Special Vande Bharat Trains and Western Railway Teams to Aid Air India Crash Relief Efforts

In the wake of the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad on Thursday, Indian Railways has stepped in to help those affected. They’re deploying disaster management teams and planning special trains to assist passengers stranded by the incident.

The plane, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner bound for London Gatwick, went down shortly after takeoff at 1:39 PM. With 242 people on board, the aircraft issued a MAYDAY call before crashing near Meghaninagar. It was heavily fueled for the long journey, causing a large fire and explosion upon impact. Rescue operations are currently underway.

Special Train Services

To aid in the evacuation of those stranded, Indian Railways is organizing special Vande Bharat trains. Western Railway is also preparing to add extra train services from Ahmedabad, including special routes to major cities like Mumbai and Delhi. “We’re doing everything possible to support those affected by this tragedy,” Abhishek confirmed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation, directing senior Union Ministers to oversee the relief efforts. Air India has established an emergency response center specifically for the families of passengers.
