Swiggy Launches Exciting New Travel and Lifestyle Concierge App: Meet Crew!

Swiggy has launched a new travel and lifestyle app called Crew, currently in pilot mode. This move marks the company’s expansion beyond its well-known food delivery and quick commerce services.

Crew is designed to help users plan trips. It combines the touch of human concierges with generative AI, offering more than just travel suggestions. Although Swiggy did not provide further comments, this app follows a previous attempt, Rare Life, which focused on personalized luxury experiences but didn’t get past a test group.

Earlier this year, Swiggy introduced another service called Pyng, a professional services marketplace. This development is part of a broader strategy similar to major Chinese tech companies like Alibaba and Meituan, which operate multiple apps for various services. In contrast, Indian superapp models have struggled to gain traction.

Currently, Swiggy is diversifying its offerings. In addition to Crew and Pyng, their main app includes food delivery, dining options, and events through a platform called Scenes. They’ve also given a separate focus to Instamart, their quick commerce service.

Interestingly, Swiggy has been adjusting its portfolio. Recently, they paused their peer-to-peer delivery service, Genie, which had been operational in 70 cities. Additionally, they licensed their cloud kitchen brands to Kouzina, indicating a strategic pivot in how they operate.

Market reactions to these changes indicate that Swiggy’s stock has remained robust, reflecting investor confidence. On one occasion last week, shares rose by 3.1%.
