Blackwood’s Roseby Lubintus, a standout offensive tackle at Timber Creek, recently switched his commitment from Penn State to Syracuse. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 350 pounds, Lubintus is now the 27th recruit to join head coach Fran Brown’s squad for the 2026 class.
“I liked Syracuse from the start,” he shared. “It just felt right.”
Initially, he had pledged to the Nittany Lions back in April but felt he might have rushed his decision. “I was more focused on the name than where I truly wanted to be,” he explained. After some reflection, he realized Syracuse offered the best environment for both his personal growth and his football journey.
Lubintus is ranked as the 57th offensive tackle nationwide and is eager to contribute to Syracuse after a successful season where they won ten games. He sees something special happening at Syracuse, saying, “It’s clear they’re building something great. We’re bringing in talented recruits, and I want to be part of it. I don’t just want to be another number; I want people to recognize my efforts.”
Throughout this process, Brown remained persistent in his recruitment efforts. “He kept in touch with me through FaceTime and texts. When I decided on Syracuse, he was completely supportive,” Lubintus noted.
Interestingly, Lubintus had other offers from schools like Boston College, Florida, Michigan State, Rutgers, Maryland, and West Virginia. This breadth of options really emphasizes his talent on the field.
As college football gets more competitive, the recruitment process evolves. According to the NCAA, about 7.5% of high school football players move on to play at the collegiate level. The pressure to choose the right school can be immense, but Lubintus’s choice shows the importance of finding a place that feels like home.
Syracuse University has been working hard to enhance its football program, which can lead to a more vibrant atmosphere both on and off the field. Fans and analysts alike are excited to see how new recruits like Lubintus can impact the team’s future.
