Taiwan’s food-tech scene is making waves! Recently, a group of three startups led by HAOSHi, an agri-food tech accelerator, showcased their innovations at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, a major event in Japan. The goal? To connect with Japanese companies and explore new investment opportunities.
Japan is changing fast. As it becomes a super-aged society, the need for healthy food and personalized health solutions is skyrocketing. The Taiwanese delegation came ready to present their expertise in health-focused biotech and food technology. They demonstrated how Taiwan is leading the charge in food innovation.
Before the exhibition, HAOSHi teamed up with Sustainable Food Asia (SFA) to help the startups understand the Japanese market better. They organized visits and exchanges with local companies, offering firsthand insights. This groundwork paved the way for discussions between Taiwanese teams and notable Japanese startups like Algalex and Eclipse Foods. They explored ways to collaborate on supply chains and market strategies.
One highlight was “Sustainable Food Night,” a networking event that gathered around 30 industry leaders, startups, and investors. The talks focused on partnerships in agri-food tech across Taiwan, Japan, and Southeast Asia, emphasizing the importance of regional connections.
The startups involved, Space Ark Bio, King Noodles, and Leeuwenhoek Laboratories, are pushing boundaries in fermentation, functional foods, and precision nutrition, respectively. Amber Lin, CEO of HAOSHi, believes this trip laid a crucial foundation for future market entry and follow-up discussions.
This initiative aligns with Taiwan’s broader goals to enhance its startup ecosystem globally. With the world’s growing focus on health, Taiwan’s food-tech sector is poised for growth and innovation, opening doors for new collaborations and ventures.
