Tate McRae is making waves with her new song “Sports Car.” It’s just debuted at No. 8 on the UK singles chart, marking another success for the young Canadian pop star. This track is part of the excitement leading up to her upcoming album, So Close to What, which will be released on February 21.
Interestingly, “Sports Car” entered the top 10 without charting as high on other lists. Typically, a hit in the top 10 should also rank well in streaming and sales, but “Sports Car” is a bit of an anomaly. It’s doing well enough to be a top 10 consumption hit, even though it only reached No. 12 on the Official Streaming chart and had even lower rankings on the downloads and sales charts, at No. 26 and No. 28, respectively.
Despite this, “Sports Car” is not alone on the charts. Other singles from So Close to What are still making an impact. “It’s Ok I’m Ok” climbed from No. 51 to No. 37, while “2 Hands” moved up from No. 68 to No. 49, showing that McRae’s music is resonating with listeners.
