Tate McRae set the Kia Forum ablaze with excitement during her album launch event for So Close to What on Thursday night. Fans flocked to the venue, transforming the parking lot into a McRae paradise.
The lively atmosphere featured photo booths, fashion displays, food trucks, and booths from sponsors like American Express, Adidas, and Neutrogena. Fans, many clad in vibrant hotpants and jerseys, eagerly requested tickets at just $8, which all went to FireAid for wildfire relief in Los Angeles. For those who couldn’t attend, a livestream on TikTok kept everyone in the loop.
Around 9 p.m., McRae took the stage, coinciding with the album’s release. She opened with her catchy single “Sports Car” and performed “It’s OK I’m OK,” captivating the audience with her energy. “Guys, what’s up?” she shouted, radiating excitement as she invited fans to hear her new music.
She treated her fans to several new tracks, including “Revolving Door,” and shared that its music video was premiering that night. The album’s theme centers around rekindling love, possibly referencing her relationship with rapper The Kid LAROI, who features on the album. He even celebrated the release with a sweet Instagram post filled with love hashtags.
McRae also performed songs like “Dear God,” “bloodonmyhands,” and “Greenlight,” wrapping up the night with her hit “Greedy.”
Exciting times lie ahead as she gears up for her sold-out “Miss Possessive” tour, starting in Mexico City on March 18. This 57-date tour includes stops in major cities like São Paulo, London, Amsterdam, Prague, and New York, concluding at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in November.
