A shooting occurred near Temple University in North Philadelphia early Monday morning, injuring two men. Police arrived at North 10th and Diamond streets shortly after 3 a.m. following multiple reports of gunfire.
Captain Timothy Stephan reported that one man had gunshot wounds to the chest and leg, while the other suffered multiple wounds. Thankfully, both men are in stable condition. Many people were present in the area during the incident.
The shooting took place in a “pop-up Hookah Lounge” located on the first floor of an apartment building that houses some Temple students. This lounge was unlicensed and had recently attracted attention from Temple Police due to complaints on both Friday and Saturday nights. A bullet even struck a wall and pierced the lobby of the building, highlighting the danger of the gathering spot.
As of now, authorities have not arrested any suspects. Stephan mentioned that investigators are reviewing nearby surveillance footage to gather more information.
Importantly, police believe there is no ongoing threat to Temple students following this incident.
