‘Terrifier’ Star Takes Legal Action Against Producers Over Unpaid Royalties and Unauthorized Nude Scene

Catherine Corcoran, known for her role in “Terrifier,” has taken legal action against the film’s producers and director, Damien Leone. She claims they violated her contract and shared explicit materials without her consent.

In her lawsuit filed in California, Corcoran’s lawyers describe a troubling pattern where low-budget film producers exploit young actresses. They name production companies Dark Age Cinema and Fuzz on the Lens Productions, along with Leone and producer Phil Falcone, as defendants. The suit outlines several issues, including breach of contract and financial fraud.

While Leone and his team have not commented yet, Corcoran is particularly known for a shocking scene in the first “Terrifier.” She played a character who was hung upside down in a brutal sequence. Corcoran alleges this scene required her to be suspended for over ten hours in freezing conditions.

Initially, she joined the film for a small upfront payment, expecting 1% of the film’s profits and sales from related merchandise. The “Terrifier” franchise has been successful, grossing over $105 million worldwide, along with additional revenue from merchandise and fan events. Despite this, Corcoran claims her royalty payments dwindled significantly. She states that she hasn’t received any back pay since July 2024 and has received only $1,816.35 in payments, with no clear explanation for the delays. Her total merchandise royalties sit at about $6,408.26.

Corcoran has reportedly asked Falcone and Leone about these payments but was met with evasive answers. Leone suggested that Falcone managed the finances, while Falcone claimed he doesn’t keep records.

Another significant allegation is that the producers filmed her without proper consent for the nude scene. Corcoran insists she requested to wear underwear but ended up naked anyway. She alleges that the production failed to provide adequate support between takes, leaving her cold and uncomfortable. Following the shoot, she experienced health issues, including cranial swelling and eardrum damage.

Issues like these raise pressing questions about the treatment of actors in the film industry. A report from the Screen Actors Guild highlighted that many performers face similar struggles, often with little recourse.
