KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Texas A&M’s women’s volleyball team advanced to the national championship game after a solid sweep of Pittsburgh. The team won 29-27, 25-21, and 25-20, thanks to impressive performances from Kyndal Stowers and Logan Lednicky, who scored a combined 34 points.
Stowers led with 18 points and 16 kills, achieving a 53% kill rate. Lednicky followed closely with 16 points and 14 kills at a 45% rate. This victory marks a milestone for Texas A&M, as it’s their first time reaching the national finals, having never gone past the quarterfinals before. They’ve taken down two top seeds, including an undefeated Nebraska team earlier in the tournament.
On the other side, Pittsburgh’s Olivia Babcock, a finalist for the National Player of the Year, scored 25 points with 22 kills at a 54% kill rate. Despite her efforts, no other Panthers player reached double digits in points, and the team faced an unexpected sweep.
Texas A&M will face Kentucky in the championship. Kentucky earned their spot after a thrilling five-set match against Wisconsin, winning 12-25, 25-22, 21-25, 26-24, and 15-13. Eva Hudson starred for Kentucky, scoring 31 points and leading with 29 kills at 53%.
