AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Reese Atwood of No. 1 Texas Softball has earned the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Week title. This is her first SEC weekly honor, adding to her previous four accolades from the Big 12 Conference.
Atwood had an impressive performance at the UTSA Invitational, helping Texas secure a 4-1 record, including three wins against ranked teams. Notably, she tied the school’s career home run record with her 58th home run against UTSA.
Over five games, Atwood achieved a batting average of .500, with a slugging percentage of 1.063. She hit three home runs, brought in 10 RBIs, and scored seven runs. Behind the plate and at first base, she stacked up 23 putouts and one assist. With four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games, she truly set the pace for Texas, hitting well under pressure with runners in scoring position.
In the season opener against No. 9 Nebraska, Atwood finished with two hits, including a solo home run that sealed the game at 15-10. She followed that up with another strong outing, going 2-for-4 against No. 25 Washington, where she tallied four RBIs and helped put Texas ahead early.
