Texas Tech University recently celebrated a significant achievement in fundraising, marking a new record. In the fiscal year 2025, the university received $236 million from 37,845 donors, many of whom were first-time supporters. This achievement follows the launch of their ON&ON campaign, which has raised over $915 million since its start in 2020.
President Lawrence Schovanec expressed gratitude for this support, emphasizing how it helps create life-changing opportunities for students. With this funding, new academic programs and scholarships have been established, further bolstering educational resources.
Here are some key highlights from FY25:
- The university welcomed 5,854 first-time donors.
- 139 new scholarship and aid funds were created, along with 129 new endowments.
- More than $61 million was raised for student scholarships and athletically related aid.
- Over $43.5 million was dedicated to community initiatives in Lubbock and West Texas.
Byron Kennedy, the vice president for advancement, noted that this generosity has a profound impact, enhancing various aspects of university life, including research and athletics.
Interestingly, FY25 also saw a rise in planned giving. Members of the Matador Society, honored for their future commitments to the university, donated more than $80 million this year alone.
Campaign co-chairs Gordon Davis and Chris Huckabee highlighted the importance of these contributions, focusing on the potential of students and the transformative power of education. They believe this support is crucial for elevating Texas Tech’s reputation and reach.
The ON&ON campaign, launched publicly in October 2024, aims to elevate Texas Tech as a premier institution while continuing to ensure a world-class educational experience.
In a landscape where higher education is increasingly competitive, Texas Tech’s achievements showcase the strength of community support and the lasting impact of philanthropy on student success.
