Recent floods in the northern regions have led to economic losses exceeding 5 billion baht (about $160 million), particularly hurting the tourism sector. The proposed bill is crucial for accessing international climate funding. Thailand’s current focus is on six key sectors: agriculture, water management, tourism, public health, natural resource management, and human settlements. These areas need substantial investment to build resilience against climate challenges.
To achieve its climate goals, the ASEAN region, including Thailand, requires approximately $422 million. Of this, $290 million is earmarked for reducing emissions, while over $100 million is for adaptation strategies. This targeted funding highlights the urgent need for collaboration and investment in climate resilience.
