“Thrilling Comeback: Hilltoppers Secure Series Victory Over Owls with 8-6 Win” – Western Kentucky University Athletics

WKU Baseball took the win against Kennesaw State with a score of 7-5 at Nick Denes Field. The team recorded 14 hits in total, showcasing a strong offensive performance. Lane Arroyos and Parker Coley were standout players, each contributing three hits. Camden Ross, Coley, and Cael Frost all had multi-RBI games, while Gavin Perry pitched 6 solid innings, striking out six batters.

The game kicked off with three consecutive singles from Hayden Robbins, Arroyos, and Ross. Robbins scored the first run, putting WKU ahead 1-0. In the second inning, Daniel Stewart and Dalton Fiveash added singles, setting the stage for Austin Haller to bring in another run. Kennesaw State responded, making it a close battle at 2-1.

WKU’s Arroyos hit his 20th double, leading to further scoring in the third. Although Kennesaw State bounced back, evening the score at 4-4, WKU regained the lead with a sacrifice fly from Coley and another run from Frost. A passed ball in the seventh added to WKU’s edge, making it 7-4. Kennesaw State hit a solo home run in the eighth but fell short.

With this win, WKU improved to 24-20 overall and 9-11 in Conference USA play. Notably, WKU’s offense has now achieved at least 14 hits in seven consecutive games. Despite committing five errors—something that hadn’t happened in a win since 2015—the team showed resilience.

Head coach Marc Rardin praised the team’s grit and highlighted the significance of timely hits, especially from pinch hitters like Frost. As the Hilltoppers prepare for their next game, they’re riding a five-game winning streak, the second such streak this season.
