Game One: A Close Battle
Stony Brook began strong. They loaded the bases early, but UNCW managed to escape the threat. The Seahawks struck first with a home run in the first inning. However, Stony Brook’s pitcher, John Rizzo, quickly found his rhythm, retiring six batters in a row.
In the fifth inning, the Seawolves finally scored. After an error allowed Matt Miceli to reach base, he advanced to second. Matt Jackson then hit a timely single to tie the game. The excitement continued into the sixth when Stony Brook took a brief lead, thanks to a double by Cam Santerre and a groundout from Nick Solorzano.
But the Seahawks rallied back in the seventh inning, scoring six runs and sealing the win with a score of 7-3.
