Thrilling Community Night Lights Up with Cowboy Spirit at University of Wyoming Athletics!

LARAMIE, Wyo. (August 15, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowboys recently held an exciting scrimmage in front of enthusiastic fans at War Memorial Stadium. As part of Community Night, the event allowed supporters to see the team just two weeks before they kick off their season at Akron on August 28.

Head Coach Jay Sawvel shared his thoughts on the scrimmage. “It was fun, and I appreciate everyone who came out,” he said. He noted the team’s focus and execution. Both offense and defense showed promising signs, especially in two-minute drills. The kickers also performed well, leaving the coach optimistic.

One standout of the evening was wide receiver Bricen Brantley. The sophomore made a spectacular catch for a touchdown from quarterback Landon Sims and even blocked a punt. Sawvel praised his relentless work ethic, saying, “Bricen just keeps going. He plays fast for a long time, and that’s invaluable.”

Fans also enjoyed the new improvements at War Memorial Stadium. The west side has been renovated with better seating, wider rows, and upgraded concessions. There’s also new lighting and enhanced facilities, including the WYO Sports Ranch Club & Loge seating.

Wyoming will officially launch their season at Akron, marking their first visit to Ohio since 2011 when they played at Bowling Green. This trip adds a historical context, as the Cowboys have not faced teams in Ohio in over a decade. This season looks promising, not just for the team but for its dedicated fan base as well.
