Oberlin, Ohio – The Denison men’s lacrosse team narrowly lost to Oberlin College, with a final score of 13-12. This brings Denison’s record to 7-8 overall and 5-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Oberlin now stands at 10-4 and 5-1 in the conference.
The game started with Oberlin taking an early lead, scoring just 13 minutes in. Denison quickly responded, equalizing a minute later. As the first quarter continued, Oberlin stretched its lead to 3-1. Denison, however, fought back, scoring two goals courtesy of Macky Peck and Charlie Haight, tying the game at 3-3. Yet, Oberlin regained the lead with just 12 seconds left in the quarter.
In the second quarter, Oberlin surged ahead with five consecutive goals, pushing Denison’s gap to six. Though Peck managed to score, Oberlin answered back before Teddy Hardy found the net, ending the half with Denison trailing by five.
After halftime, the game shifted. Oberlin scored again, marking its 11th goal. But Jonah Frank sparked Denison’s comeback, scoring with 12 minutes left in the quarter. He assisted Peck and Kevin Berutich, narrowing Oberlin’s lead to just two goals.
During the final quarter, Denison pressed hard, netting three goals. Despite this effort, Oberlin held onto its slim lead, winning 13-12 as the clock ran out.
Goalkeeper Andrew Albert faced 20 shots on goal, making 7 saves. Denison excelled in clear attempts, going 16-20, and led in caused turnovers with 13 to Oberlin’s 9.
