Okotoks, AB – The Penticton Vees are on the brink of moving to the next round of the BCHL Playoffs after a solid 6-3 victory over the Okotoks Oilers. The Vees now lead the series 3-0 and will face the Oilers again on Wednesday.

Local star Max Heise stood out with a fantastic performance, racking up four points in the game (1 goal and 3 assists). He kicked things off by scoring early in the first period and earned the title of the game’s first star.
Other notable players included Louie Wehmann, Caton Ryan, Simon Meier, Luke Posthumus, and Matthew Biotti, who all contributed goals. Goalie Will Ingemann secured his second win of the series, stopping 17 out of 20 shots, although he did concede a goal late in the second period, ending a remarkable shutout streak that lasted just under 137 minutes.
Power plays and penalty kills played key roles in the game. The Vees capitalized on three out of five power play opportunities and successfully managed to kill all three penalties they faced. Their aggressive approach in special teams has been a major factor in their success so far.
Penticton started strong, scoring twice in the first five minutes. After Heise’s opening goal, Wehmann followed up with his first career playoff goal, putting the Vees ahead 2-0 quickly. They dominated the first period with shots favoring them 17-4.
In the second period, the Oilers struggled with penalties, and Penticton took advantage. Caton Ryan scored on a five-on-three opportunity, then Simon Meier added another goal during a lengthy man advantage. The Oilers did fight back toward the end of the period, with Jackson Rowland and Michael Kowalski scoring to narrow the gap to 4-2.
The Vees continued to press in the third period, and Posthumus scored their third power play goal. Kowalski made things interesting by adding another for the Oilers shortly after, bringing the score to 5-3. Finally, Biotti sealed the game with an empty-net goal.
