West Kelowna, BC – The Penticton Vees celebrated their fourth straight victory with a 4-2 win over the West Kelowna Warriors on Saturday night at Royal LePage Place.

This win added to the Vees’ successful weekend, earning them four points on the road and nine out of ten during a tough stretch of five games in nine days. They now hold a four-point lead over Brooks for the top spot in the Interior Conference.

The Vees faced the Warriors for the second time in just six days. Previously, they claimed a 5-4 win over West Kelowna on Family Day Monday.

“We didn’t start strong, but West Kelowna made things hard for us early on. They pressured us and blocked our plays,” said Assistant Coach Matthew Vanden Berg. “In the second period, we came out stronger, increased the pressure, and built from there. We’re improving our game.”

The Vees have now won four out of five games against the Warriors this season.

After a scoreless first period, Louie Wehmann scored first, giving the Vees a 1-0 lead at 4:30 in the second. Luke Posthumus followed with a power play goal at 7:19, marking his 23rd goal of the season, increasing the lead to 2-0.

In the third period, West Kelowna’s Jackson Kyrokostas brought his team back in the game, scoring at 3:21. He managed to slip the puck past goaltender Ethan Buenaventura on a partial breakaway.

Just over a minute later, the Warriors found themselves in penalty trouble, and the Vees capitalized. Ryden Evers added another power play goal for Penticton at 5:54, making the score 3-1 after he scored on a rebound.

West Kelowna didn’t give up. Elias Callgren scored, narrowing the gap to 3-2 after firing a shot that found its way into the top corner, barely catching Buenaventura’s glove.
