Sunday kicked off with an exciting day of curling at the Montana’s Brier, held at Kelowna’s Prospera Place. Fans witnessed thrilling matches, including a standout confrontation between Brad Gushue and John Epping, both coming into the game with perfect records.

The day featured three draws, starting with the morning session where young talent Sam Mooibroek from Ontario made a splash. In his first Brier appearance, Mooibroek triumphed over Aaron Bartling from Northwest Territories with a convincing score of 12-2. Over the tournament’s first two games, he has outscored his opponents 23-6, showcasing his skills and poise.

The excitement peaked in the afternoon with draw five. Gushue and Epping exchanged leads, both delivering strong performances. After some cautious plays, Gushue managed to take a slim lead and they traded points back and forth. As they headed into the eighth end, the game was tied at five. Gushue executed a solid end while Epping struggled to capitalize, ultimately giving Gushue the victory, 6-5.

Another notable match featured Kevin Koe from Alberta, who was searching for his first win against Reid Carruthers from Manitoba. This game was tight and suspenseful, with only one end scoring more than one point. In a nail-biting finish, Carruthers scored in the eleventh end, leaving Koe at 0-3 in the tournament.
