Softball Showdown: Morgan State vs. Colgate
The Morgan State softball team had an exciting day at Lois T. Murray Field on March 19, 2025. They played a doubleheader against Colgate. It was a day of ups and downs, with each team taking a win.
Game 1 Recap
In the first game, Morgan State clinched a tight 1-0 victory. The lone run came in the first inning. Gianna Ettore hit a single that brought Morgan Harrell-Alvarez home. That single run was enough to secure the win.
Serena Rodriguez was the star of the mound. She threw a complete game, striking out four batters and allowing just three hits. Meanwhile, both Amber Rivas and Tonya Marks shone at the plate, hitting two singles each, making them key contributors to the team’s offense.
Colgate’s Maya Servidio took the loss, giving up one run on eight hits.
Game 2 Recap
The second game began with Morgan State taking an early lead. In the second inning, Alison Keener reached base on a fielding error, letting Olivia Pagano score. However, the Raiders quickly took control. In the third inning, Quinn Livesay hit a two-run homer, putting Colgate ahead 2-1.
Morgan rallied, tying the game in the sixth inning thanks to a series of hits. Tanya Marks got the first run, followed by Keener’s double that scored another, and finally, Amber Rivas tied it at 4-4 with a single.
But Colgate wasn’t finished. They found their winning run in the seventh inning. Alexa Acker hit a double that scored Livesay, securing the victory for the Raiders at 5-4. Livesay was unstoppable, hitting three times and scoring twice.

Morgan State will head to Princess Anne, Maryland, for their next matchup against Maryland Eastern Shore in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) on March 22-23. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday and finish with a single game on Sunday.
