Thrilling Overtime Showdown: Dolphins Narrowly Lose to Panthers – University of Mount Saint Vincent Athletics
Riverdale, NY – The Dolphins faced off against the Panthers from Purchase College in a thrilling season finale at the Sharp Center on Saturday. It was a memorable event for our seniors: DJ Tucker, Kevin Agyemang, Adrian Rraci, Frank Camastro, Derrick Holley, and Brian Rawlings, who were celebrated for their contributions to the team before tip-off. Despite their efforts, the Dolphins fell short, losing 68-65 in a nail-biting overtime match.

The game kicked off with a three-pointer from Agyemang, followed by an impressive dunk from Tucker. Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half, keeping the score tight. Just before halftime, Purchase hit a crucial three-pointer, leading 34-28 as the teams headed into the locker room.

In the second half, freshmen Blake Salice-Mitchell and Eric Woodberry made quick layups that narrowed the Panthers’ lead to just two points. However, Purchase responded well and even built a 12-point advantage. The Dolphins fought back, with Agyemang tying the game with a three-point play in the final minutes. As the clock expired, both teams struggled to score, pushing the game into overtime.

In a standout performance, Tucker lit up his last home game with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Agyemang, despite being sidelined since January 25th due to injury, made a strong comeback with 13 points and 5 steals. Woodberry contributed 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Chi added 7 points, and Salice-Mitchell led the team with 10 rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Dolphins will prepare for the first round of the Skyline Conference playoffs on Tuesday. It’s an exciting time, and the team is eager to build on the energy from this close match.
