Tulsa Tops New Orleans in Season Opener
Last night, the New Orleans Privateers faced off against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a tough game, ending with a 77-60 score in favor of Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane started strong, quickly building a 12-0 lead in the first few minutes. However, the Privateers found their footing when Brialle Washington hit a three-pointer, kicking off a series of successful shots.
Even though they trailed at the end of the first quarter, the Privateers made a strong comeback, tying the game at 22-22 after a series of quick points from Lauren Banks. Despite this rally, the Golden Hurricane regained control and went into halftime ahead at 36-31.
In the second half, the Privateers got close again, narrowing the gap to 39-35 after a steal and layup by Shanihya Brown. But Tulsa pulled away, finishing strong with a 47% shooting rate in the fourth quarter.
Lauren Banks led the Privateers with 16 points and added four rebounds. Jayla Kimbrough stood out with 12 rebounds, helping her team on the boards. Washington contributed 15 points while several other players chipped in as well.
Tulsa’s Mady Cartwright was the standout scorer of the night, racking up 26 points to lead her team.
After this opening game, the Privateers look forward to their next challenge as they head to New Mexico on November 12.
