Penticton, BC – Ryden Evers is making headlines again!
The West Kelowna Warriors faced a tough fight against the Penticton Vees, losing 3-2 at the South Okanagan Events Centre. The Warriors started slow, trailing 2-0 after the first period. Louie Wehmann and Tristan Petersen scored for the Vees, putting West Kelowna on the defensive.
In the second period, the Warriors rallied. Sam LeDrew, known as the “Stillwater Sniper,” ended his five-game scoring slump with a precise shot. He scored his 21st goal early in the period with a brilliant pass from Ben Miller, cutting the Vees’ lead in half. Seventeen minutes later, Philip Monnich Hagen created an opportunity in the attacking zone, setting up LeDrew for his second goal, which tied the game.
The game remained tied as it headed into the final moments. However, Ryden Evers had other plans. He maneuvered the puck in close and, after his first shot was saved by goalie Éddie Gauthier, he found the rebound and slipped it in for the game-winning goal. This was Evers’ fourth goal against West Kelowna this season, showcasing his impact in these matchups.
With this loss, the Warriors are now just one point ahead of the Okotoks Oilers, who won their game. Both teams will hit the ice again on Saturday night. The Oilers will host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, while the Warriors invite the Brooks Bandits to Royal LePage Place for a special “We Win, You Win” event. If the Warriors win, every fan at the game will receive a voucher for a free ticket to the final game of the season on March 29th, which is also Fan Appreciation Night against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
Get ready for an exciting matchup on Saturday!
