BOSTON – The Boston University women’s swimming and diving team had an impressive showing Friday evening at the FitRec Competition Pool. They celebrated a significant win against Boston College, clocking in at 168-75, while facing a close defeat to Army West Point with a score of 131-112.
Freshman Kiki Rampersad made headlines by setting a new school record in the 100-meter butterfly, finishing in 53.79 seconds— the fastest time in over 15 years. She was also part of the 200-meter freestyle relay team that included fellow rookies Molly Barber, Danka Ndubuisi, and Lily Osborn. Their collective effort resulted in a record-breaking time of 1:31.87, surpassing last season’s mark.
Barber shone in the individual events too, winning the 50-meter freestyle in 22.77 seconds and securing second in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 50.18 seconds. Ndubuisi also performed well, winning both the 200 individual medley in 2:04.01 and the 100 backstroke in 55.30 seconds.
On the diving front, freshman Alayna Kennedy placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, scoring a total of 283.7 points.
Notably, this victory over Boston College was BU’s first since January 26, 2019. This win not only demonstrates the team’s growth but also highlights the potential of their young swimmers.
