MOSCOW, Idaho – In an intense matchup, the Idaho men’s basketball team lost to Idaho State 65-69.
Kristian Gonzalez kicked things off by hitting an early three-pointer. The Bengals quickly responded, and both teams traded shots in a fierce start. Kolton Mitchell contributed four three-pointers in the first half, helping Idaho score 25 points in the first 10 minutes. On defense, the Vandals made five steals, but Idaho State managed to keep up, ending the half with a slight lead of 36-32.
The second half saw Idaho rally. Tyler Mrus hit back-to-back threes, putting them ahead at 45-39. The teams continued to swap leads. Jack Payne scored 16 points, while Julius Mims added seven rebounds, keeping the game tight.
In the final minutes, the excitement in the ICCU escalated as Idaho State clung to a small lead. Despite their efforts, Idaho couldn’t score when it mattered most and ultimately fell short.
