Potsdam, NY – The Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team came away with a thrilling 3-2 victory against Yale University, thanks in part to a strong performance from goalie Holly Gruber, who made 36 saves. The game took place at Cheel Arena and marked a successful home weekend for the Golden Knights, who are now 9-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in ECAC Hockey.
The game kicked off with both teams firing shots, leading to a fast-paced first period. Just a minute in, Janelle Evans scored for Clarkson, assisted by Manon le Scodan. Despite a domination of shots in the second period from Yale (25 shots to Clarkson’s 12), the Knights managed to even the score at 2-2. Keira Hurry found the back of the net midway through the second, showing great teamwork and precision in a well-executed offensive play.
The game’s tempo shifted in the third period when Clarkson capitalized on a Yale turnover. Lara Beecher scored, bringing the score to 3-2 after a slick maneuver around Yale’s defense.
In the dying minutes, Yale pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, trying to tie the game. However, Gruber stood strong in net, making key saves, and the Knights clinched the win.
