Thrilling Victory: Cowboy Tennis Triumphs Over Tulsa – An Oklahoma State University Athletics Showcase!

TULSA, Okla. – The Oklahoma State men’s tennis team faced off against Tulsa in a thrilling match on Wednesday night, winning 4-3 at the Case Tennis Center. This victory brings the Cowboys’ record to 5-8, while the Golden Hurricane falls to 7-10.

The match was intense and came down to the final set on court five. Tulsa’s Ian Bracks managed to edge past Reiya Komagata from OSU, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Cowboys had a rocky start, losing the doubles point early. Alex Okonkwo and Timothy Seger defeated OSU’s No. 48 duo, Alessio Basile and Nicolas Kobelt, 6-1. Meanwhile, Calum Jestin and Will Pellegrini secured a 6-2 victory against OSU’s Isaac Becroft and Derek Pham.

In singles play, the Golden Hurricane’s Okonkwo, ranked No. 102, beat No. 67 Becroft 6-3, 6-4. Luis Miguel also contributed to Tulsa’s lead by outplaying Basile in a tough match ending 7-6 (2), 6-1.

But the Cowboys fought back. Ben Stecker and Nicolas Kobelt each claimed decisive wins. Stecker defeated Connor Doig 6-2, 6-3, while Kobelt took down Nikola Puntaric 6-2, 6-4. The match tightened when Pham defeated Seger 6-4, 6-4, and registered his eighth win of the season.

In the end, the match hinged on Bracks’ win, balancing the competition at 3-3. OSU emerged victorious with a final singles win from Bracks that sealed their triumph.

Next, OSU will host BYU on March 13 at 5 p.m. for their conference opener.
