Timon Haugan’s Spectacular Slalom Win: Norway’s Ski Team Secures 2nd Consecutive Victory at World Cup!

In Schladming, Austria, Timon Haugan celebrated a thrilling victory in a men’s World Cup night slalom race. This win marked the second triumph for the Norwegian ski team in just two days.

Haugan took first place, finishing ahead of Austria’s Manuel Feller and Fabio Gstrein. This is Haugan’s second win of the season, following teammate Alexander Steen Olsen’s recent victory in a giant slalom event on the very same slope.

“This is crazy, this is the best one so far. Schladming is just different,” Haugan expressed after his win.

This race was the last slalom competition before the World Championships, which will take place from February 4 to 16 in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Haugan previously emerged victorious at this venue during the World Cup finals last March, boosting his confidence as a strong contender.

During the race, Haugan improved his position from second place. Linus Strasser, who led after the first run, slipped to fourth by the end. Strasser had entered the final round with a lead, but he lost ground with each passing split time.

Feller and Gstrein, finishing second and third respectively, marked their first podium finishes in slalom this season. Last year, Feller won the World Cup slalom title but has been working to regain that peak performance. For Gstrein, this podium finish is a significant milestone in his career after several fifth-place finishes earlier this season.

In a surprising turn, Olympic champion Clement Noel, who was leading the overall discipline standings and had won four races this season, skied out during his second run. As a result, Henrik Kristoffersen moved to the top of the slalom season standings, edging out Noel by three points. Kristoffersen finished eighth, trailing Haugan by 1.18 seconds.

The men’s World Cup features one last race before the World Championships—a downhill event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, scheduled for this Sunday.
