Tesla and Sugar Ray Join the Lineup

Exciting news for music fans! Sugar Ray will hit the stage at the Alameda County Fair on June 20. They are joined by Tesla, the hard rock band from Northern California, scheduled to perform on July 2. These concerts are part of the Big O Tires Summer Concert series.

The fair runs from June 13 to July 6, with concerts every night except for the Fourth of July. Other performers include WAR on June 13, Twist on Taylor on June 21, Too $hort on June 25, and Clint Black on July 3.

Webinar on Youth Mental Health

The Alan Hu Foundation is hosting a webinar with Dr. Laurence Steinberg on February 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The talk, titled “Age of Opportunity: Lessons from the New Science of Adolescence,” focuses on the teenage brain, its potential for change, and the long adolescence developmental stage.

California Political Practices Commission Report

This week, California’s Fair Political Practices Commission released its “Enforcement Heat Map” for 2024, highlighting 1,054 cases prosecuted last year, resulting in $802,238 in fines. This is the highest amount since 2017.

FPPC Chair Adam E. Silver stated, “The Heat Map shows our commitment to enforcing ethics laws in California.” The report covers five violations in Alameda County, amounting to $4,848 in fines.
