Today’s WVU Alert System Test: What You Need to Know for September 8th

The WVU Alert system is a key tool for keeping the University community safe during emergencies and weather events. It will be tested today at 1 p.m. across the Morgantown, Beckley, and Keyser campuses.

This test includes notifications via email and text, plus push alerts for those using the LiveSafe mobile app. It’s a good idea to use both the WVU Alert and LiveSafe for reliable communication during critical times.

The WVU Alert system has a three-tiered approach to notifications, including WVU Alert, Campus Warnings, and Community Notices. This system ensures effective communication with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community, guided by the Clery Act.

Faculty and staff need to register to receive emergency messages. If you’re already in the system, consider updating your contact details before the test. Students are automatically signed up via their MIX email but should add their phone number if it’s not already linked. Parents can also receive alerts if students enter their contact info.
