Tom Hardy has been in the spotlight lately after news of his possible exit from the hit Paramount+ show. A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Hardy’s future is still up in the air.
Reportedly, Hardy has had clashes with producers, including executive producer Jez Butterworth. These disputes might be a factor in the show’s lack of official renewal for a third season. A source mentioned that if the green light is given, filming could start in September.
One insider claimed that Hardy often stayed in his trailer for hours, which frustrated producers and cast members. “Keeping big stars like Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren waiting could hurt his career,” the source said.
In MobLand, directed by Guy Ritchie, Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family, led by Brosnan’s character Conrad and Mirren’s Maeve. The cast also includes actors like Paddy Considine and Joanne Froggatt.
There are whispers about Hardy wanting to change dialogue, which has added to the tension. His reputation for being difficult to work with has only worsened amid these incidents.
George Miller, who directed Mad Max: Fury Road, has previously discussed his experiences with Hardy. He mentioned how Hardy’s “brilliance” comes with its challenges, stating, “He had to be coaxed out of his trailer.” Miller contrasted Hardy’s approach with that of co-star Charlize Theron, who was known for her discipline.
Despite the controversies, it’s still unclear what will happen next. While Hardy’s team and representatives have not commented, the production team is also silent.
Notably, actor Patrick Stewart shared his own experience with Hardy in his memoir. Stewart described Hardy as “odd” and mentioned how the actor stayed withdrawn during the filming of Star Trek: Nemesis.
