Tony Iommi Confirms Ozzy Osbourne Will Rock Four Songs at Black Sabbath’s Final Concert: ‘He’s Singing Great!’

In a recent chat with BBC Midlands Today, BLACK SABBATH’s guitarist, Tony Iommi, shared insights about their big show, “Back To The Beginning,” set for July 5 in Birmingham, UK. This concert marks a huge moment as it reunites the original band members—Tony, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—after 20 years. For Ozzy, who lives with Parkinson’s disease, it will be his final performance.

More than 40,000 fans are expected to attend, with other iconic bands like METALLICA and SLAYER also performing. Best of all, profits from this show will go to charities like Cure Parkinson’s and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Tony expressed mixed feelings, saying, “We’ve played for 300,000 before, but this is different… it’s nerve-racking.” He acknowledged that Ozzy may not perform the whole set but will definitely sing a few songs. “It’s hard to see the changes, but we’re all excited,” he added.

Tickets for “Back To The Beginning” sold out in just 16 minutes, and fans can catch the concert live-streamed starting at 3 PM on the day of the event. They can also rewatch it for 48 hours afterward.

In a significant move, MERCURY STUDIOS is set to produce and distribute the livestream, partnering with KISWE, known for their work with BTS. This collaboration aims to bring this monumental event to a worldwide audience.

The concert will be hosted by actor Jason Momoa and feature a “supergroup” of musicians, including celebrities from various bands. As Iommi noted, it’s exciting yet intimidating: “There are so many moving parts.”

Reflecting on Ozzy’s health, his wife Sharon mentioned that while he struggles with walking, his singing voice remains strong. “He feels like he needs to say goodbye,” she shared, emphasizing how crucial this performance is for him.

Historically, BLACK SABBATH last performed with this lineup in 2005. Their influence on heavy metal music is undeniable, making this final reunion a significant moment for rock fans everywhere.

As the concert approaches, anticipation builds. It’s not just about the music; it’s a farewell to a legendary era. For more details about the show, you can visit this link.
