CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The North Carolina women’s lacrosse team extended their winning streak to 29 games with a convincing 19-3 win over No. 21 Pitt. This marks an impressive tie for the longest winning streak in their history and ranks sixth in NCAA history.
Chloe Humphrey shone brightly, scoring five goals and assisting two others. Alongside her, Addison Pattillo, Eliza Osburn, and Kiley Mottice each netted hat tricks, while Julia O’Connor contributed with two assists.
The Tar Heels’ defense was impenetrable, not allowing Pitt a shot in the first half. UNC dominated the game with a 40-7 advantage in shots—25 of which were on target—while forcing 23 turnovers, including 15 turnovers they caused.
In the first quarter, Caroline Godine got things rolling with a quick goal off a free-position shot. Osburn quickly added to the score, showcasing her ability to maneuver through defenders. Soon after, Pattillo and Mottice extended the lead to 4-0. Carolina was relentless, holding Pitt without a shot and launching 15 of their own in the first quarter alone.
As the game progressed, Osburn secured her hat trick early in the second quarter, followed closely by slick plays from Kaleigh Harden and Chloe Humphrey. By halftime, UNC had outshot Pitt 27-0.
The second half saw Humphrey score twice more, while Eva Ingrilli marked her return from injury with a goal. By the end of the match, Pattillo finished her hat trick, ensuring the Heels’ commanding performance.
