Tragic Central Pennsylvania Shooting: Multiple Officers Injured, Suspect Dead – Latest Updates from CNN

Multiple law enforcement officers were injured during a shooting in rural central Pennsylvania. At least two officers were taken to the hospital. The shooter is deceased.

The incident happened while officers were serving a court order, according to one source.

Currently, two individuals remain in serious condition, as stated by a spokesperson from WellSpan York Hospital.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro mentioned he is heading to the scene, and the state’s Attorney General, Dave Sunday, also shared on social media that he was on his way.

The emergency calls began coming in around 2 p.m. from North Codorus Township, located about two and a half hours west of Philadelphia. Police responded quickly to Haar Road in Spring Grove, a picturesque area known for its farmland.

Witnesses reported seeing a medevac helicopter in a nearby field, along with numerous emergency vehicles flashing their lights.

So far, local and state officials have not disclosed further details about the injuries or the circumstances of the shooting. York County Coroner Pamela Gay confirmed her office is involved but did not provide additional information.

Law enforcement efforts at the scene include support from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized the severity of violence against law enforcement, describing it as a “scourge on society.” She urged people to pray for the affected officers.

In recent years, violent incidents involving law enforcement have increased. According to a report by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 2022 saw the highest number of officers killed in the line of duty since 1974.
