THOMPSON, Pa. — Two Pennsylvania state troopers were shot while responding to a welfare check on Thursday. Thankfully, both troopers are now stable and recovering in the hospital.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in a rural area near Thompson. State police Colonel Christopher Paris explained that when the troopers arrived at the scene, they were unexpectedly ambushed. “They are very lucky to be alive,” he remarked.
During the chaos, one trooper applied a tourniquet to the other, showcasing quick thinking and teamwork, with help from another officer who joined in the rescue.
The ambush happened along Route 171, about 163 miles north of Philadelphia. Multiple bullets struck the troopers’ vehicles, highlighting the danger they faced.
