Tragic Loss: Child Star Millena Brandão Passes Away at 11 After Battling 13 Heart Attacks

Millena Brandão, an 11-year-old actress, tragically passed away on May 2 after suffering multiple heart attacks. Her journey took a sudden turn when she was rushed to Granjaú General Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil, on April 30 due to severe headaches, leg pain, drowsiness, loss of appetite, and frequent fainting.

Initially, doctors suspected she might have dengue fever, but this was later ruled out. Instead, they discovered a urinary tract infection and expressed concerns about a potential brain tumor, although that diagnosis remains unconfirmed. Millena experienced a staggering 13 cardiac arrests during her hospital stay, with her mother, Thays Brandão, reporting that some days saw up to seven respiratory arrests.

In a heartbreaking decision, Thays and her husband chose to turn off the machines when it became clear that Millena’s condition was irreversible. Thays described the pain of not having answers about what caused her daughter’s sudden decline, stating, “The doctors still haven’t said what really happened to my daughter.” The local health departments are now investigating the care Millena received in the hospital.

Millena was loved by many and had a promising start in the entertainment world, making her debut on SBT in October 2023. She appeared in shows like “A infância de Romeu e Julieta” and the Netflix production “Sintonia.” With nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram, she touched numerous lives with her bright spirit.

In an emotional tribute, Thays shared an open letter to Millena on Instagram, expressing her everlasting love and the memories they shared. Recent surveys highlight a growing concern about child health issues in Brazil, emphasizing the need for better healthcare protocols and monitoring for young patients. Experts suggest that early detection and prompt treatment are crucial to preventing tragic outcomes like Millena’s.

As her story circulates, it has become a rallying point for discussions around healthcare quality for children, shining a light on the importance of swift and accurate medical responses. Millena’s memory will continue to inspire those who knew her.
