Tragic Loss: Desperate Palestinians Seeking Food Pay the Ultimate Price in Gaza Conflict

The UN Human Rights office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is urging the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to stop using lethal force near food distribution points in Gaza. Since the ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’ (GHF) began distributing food on May 27, over 400 people have died while trying to access food and aid.

Witnesses have reported that many victims were shot while approaching GHF distribution sites or waiting for UN humanitarian convoys. A tragic instance occurred on June 17, when the Israeli military shelled a crowd waiting for food from UN trucks, killing at least 51 and injuring 200.
