Katelyn, just 22 years old, died in a helicopter crash on January 2, 2026, in mountainous terrain near Phoenix, Arizona. She was one of four victims in this devastating accident.
Katelyn played for the Argos from the 2022-23 to the 2024-25 seasons. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office reported that the helicopter struck a slackline before crashing into Telegraph Canyon. The FAA and NTSB are now investigating how that slackline ended up there.
In the aftermath, the university shared heartfelt memories of Katelyn. Coach Bill Himmelberg expressed the profound sadness felt across the community. “Her smile and spirit were contagious,” he said.
